The Legacy I Most Want to Leave

This past week was one of those beautiful, joy-filled reminders of what truly matters most.
We began Mother’s Day together with my husband, my four children, my beautiful daughter-in-love, my precious grandson Phoenix, and my sweet granddaughters Emmy and Avery. From there, we spent three unforgettable days at Disney parks and another day enjoying a little beach time and lunch together — where we unexpectedly got caught in a storm while at the restaurant.
And honestly?
It was perfect. Just one more special memory added to our list of many.
Throughout the week, there were long lines, sore feet, exhaustion, melted ice cream moments, and the kind of tired where you can barely keep your eyes open by the end of the night. But there was also laughter echoing through the parks, thrilling rides, incredible food, sweet treats, inside jokes, hugs, conversations that mattered, and memories I will treasure forever.
Some mornings, Nikki, Kimmi, Phoenix, and I were up, getting ready, and heading out by 6:30am. Some nights we didn’t make it home until after 1am. We truly packed every ounce of life and joy we could into this week. And somehow, through all the busyness, what stood out most were the quiet moments — the heart talks, the laughter between rides, the little hands reaching for mine, the stories shared at meals, and simply being together.
We took over 400 pictures trying to capture all the beauty of this week, but the truth is that some moments are simply too meaningful for a camera to fully hold.
As I looked around at my family this week, I felt overwhelming gratitude toward the Lord.
Not because life has always been easy — because it certainly hasn’t.
Our family has walked through trials.
We have endured pain, heartbreak, disappointments, losses, and battles that tested us deeply. But we are overcomers. Every one of us. And this week stood as another testimony of the faithfulness of God.
I am a walking reminder that when we cling to the Lord in the middle of suffering, He truly does bring beauty from ashes. He brings dancing after mourning. He redeems what the enemy intended for evil and creates blessings, healing, restoration, wisdom, compassion, and legacy from it.
One thing I have always believed deeply is this:
My first ministry is my home.
Before any title, accomplishment, ministry, business, platform, degree, or achievement, my greatest calling has always been to serve God well and to be the wife, mom, and Mimi He created me to be. My home has always been my primary mission field.
That doesn’t mean perfection.
It means presence.
Intentionality.
Sacrifice.
Prayer.
Showing up over and over again.
I also believe this is why women need margin in their lives.
We need space to nurture relationships.
To listen to hearts.
To teach lessons & life skills.
To help process emotions.
To heal wounds.
To create safe places for our families.
To manage our sanctuaries with peace and love.
To pour wisdom, comfort, stability, and faith into the people God entrusted to us.
And this is also why women themselves need care, support, rest, encouragement, nourishment, and protection.
A depleted woman struggles to guard the atmosphere of her home well.
But a woman who is cared for emotionally, spiritually, physically, and relationally becomes a powerful source of peace, wisdom, safety, and strength for her family.
As I watched my children laughing together this week… watched my grandchildren experiencing joy… watched conversations happen that probably never would have unfolded in the middle of everyday busyness… I was reminded again that these moments matter.
They matter deeply.
Of all the things I have accomplished in life — nursing, coaching, writing, ministry, leadership, education, business — the thing I most want to be remembered for is the legacy of my family.
I want my children and grandchildren to remember that they were loved deeply, prayed over faithfully, nurtured intentionally, and pointed continually toward Christ.
And I want them to know how incredibly proud I am of every single one of them.
This week was exhausting.
Beautiful.
Healing.
Joyful.
Sacred.
And above all else, it was another reminder that God is faithful through every season.
To every woman reading this:
Never underestimate the eternal impact of the love, prayers, wisdom, stability, and presence you bring into your home. The world may not always applaud it, but Heaven sees it.
Stand firm and guard your post ladies!
And one day, the legacy will speak for itself. 💛
